Felicia Bergman, PsyD
Hello, my name is Dr. Felicia Bergman, but please call me Felicia. I am a clinical psychologist at Horizons Counseling Services. I received my doctoral degree in psychology (Psy.D.) at Argosy University in Schaumburg, Illinois and am licensed by The Ohio Board of Psychology (lic. # 7008). My pre-doctoral training included psychological assessment, group, family, and individual therapy in schools, outpatient clinics, college counseling centers, and a therapeutic day school.
I’ve been a practicing psychologist for over 10 years, and generally approach therapy from an emotion-focused (EFT) & cognitive behavioral (CBT) orientation. I’ve found that the most important aspect of successful therapy is the therapeutic relationship, which may take some time to develop. Change happens best within a trusting and safe relationship, and a supportive enviorment. I view each client as unique and special in his or her own way, and I strive to build on their strengths and abilities. My clients are ultimately the experts of their own experiences which is why I believe a collaborative approach is most effective. In sessions with my clients I use my own strengths of humor and creativity, and I enjoy the opportunity to be on this journey with my clients.
I work primarily with teenagers and adults, and have experience with a variety of issues including: anxiety (panic disorder, GAD), depression, self-esteem issues, grief, coping skills, relationship difficulties, and more. I find that I work best when my clients arrive to therapy with an openness to the process and enjoy a bit of humor along the way. I am currently providing only virtual sessions at this time.
